Blog Entry: a{TEXT-DECORATION:none} A shortage of prime cattle helped lift steers to as much as $2.08 a kilogram at livestock sales at Canterbury Agricultural Park, in Christchurch, this week. The market was strong for all classes of cattle with many steers making $1.95/kg to $2.03, and heifers were at $1.75 to $1.85 with sales to $1.90. Ysl Pumps Top prime ewes had a good sale, making as much as $124. A good collection of buyers was attracted to a large yarding and heavy prime ewes made $85 to $110. The heaviest lambs were similar to recent weeks with the tops making up to $158.
